Jim (The PB Millionaire) found out about a San Diego family living in their van with no place to go.
He was so touched by their story and ended up paying for a hotel room for them to stay in for the week,  along with buying bags of grocerys  for the family.

Last Wednesday the very first Miss Pacific Beach was crowned at PB Bar & Grill. Out of 24 contestants, the field was narrowed down to just one as Charity Hodges took the grand prize and was crowned Miss Pacific Beach. Tiffany Keller came in second place and Rachel Swanson took third. Before the contest, the crowd had the chance to meet each contestant individually, as they mingled in the crowd wearing evening dresses.

The event was the first of its kind and due to its success is now scheduled as an annual event. The PB Reality Show asked their Facebook fans to help with the judging by “liking” each contestant they wanted to cast a vote for. The Facebook votes were then given to the judging panel last Wednesday night during the final rounds to be taken into consideration.

The event was a huge success, the crowd was at capacity and everyone had a great time. The screaming crowd was lead by the MC of the night, Marty Lubin. In between judging rounds, the PB reality staff held give-a-ways, in which various items disappeared into a sea of people.

Right before the winner was announced and Charity Hodges was crowned, a $3,000.00 donation was presented to PhotoCharity.org. PhotoCharity.org is a non-profit organization which helps the homeless teens of San Diego. One of the first duties for Charity, as Miss Pacific Beach, will be to attend a Photo Charity walk which will help raise money for San Diego’s homeless youth.

Next Wednesday we will be organizing an event to raise money for PhotoCharity.org which helps out San Diego’s homeless youth. The event is the first annual Miss Pacific Beach Contest and will be held at PB Bar & Grill Wednesday September 14th and start at 8pm.

Through our PB Reality Facebook page, we have been asking our fans to vote for who they think should be crowned Miss Pacific Beach by clicking the “Like” button next to each photo. These Facebook votes (while not determining the outcome) will be given to the official judging panel on the night of the event to take into consideration during the judging process.

We are looking forward to a crowd capacity of good looking Women yes, but good looking Men out in the crowd as well. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a gut or a girl, there will be something for everyone! The first ever Miss Pacific Beach will be crowned and there will be lots of prizes and give-aways.  See you there.

Over the past ten years, Photocharity has raised over $1.6M to save homeless youth due mostly to our wonderful and generous corporate sponsors and donors like you. You are angels for the children. Together as a team, we have truly made a difference by funding San Diego Youth Services’ Storefront emergency shelter. Your contributions have provided for many things including: breakfast for one year, weekly anger management classes, after-school expressive arts and music programs, a full-time independent living skills instructor, case manager, outreach director and more.

Currently, there are still over 2,000 homeless youth under 18 in San Diego County and funding has been severely reduced. It is estimated that 1 in 50 children in the U.S. are homeless and there are no programs for the 4,000 plus 18 to 24 years old homeless youth in San Diego County. Although times are tough for many of us we must not lose sight of how bad things are for these kids, many of whom are also suffering from abuse, alcohol and drug addiction and other challenges.

Thank you to everyone that supported the first annual KUSI News Walk to Save Homeless Youth on October 23rd. Over 400 participants registered to help us take a stand against youth homelessness in our community.
